The classical guitar is an ancient string instrument developed and perfected in Spain. Unlike the the instruments of the violin family, it is fretted and the sound is produced by the plucking of the strings. Classical guitars are strung with nylon strings. Guitars are available in fractional sizes so that children can begin study at from an early age, as young 4 years old. The child's readiness for music lessons is to be determined in consultation with the private teacher.
